in case anyone wonders what ever happened to Jennifer, here she is...
In my latest incarnation, I am a music student at the University of Texas, San Antonio. (My "Dr." incarnation lives on at Northwest Vista College. I can handle teaching a couple of lecture classes a semester on top of my music studies. I don't want to be full-time chemistry faculty anywhere again, though.)
I'm a percussion principal right now, education major (instrumental ed. track). Since I was trying to follow some other interests in the music field and was getting too busy for one person, I'm looking for a way to focus on the stuff I like better. I'm auditioning for the piano department next month and might change to the other education degree plan.
My ensembles and projects, Spring 2007:
Percussion:
-UTSA Percussion Ensemble
-UTSA Symphonic Band
-percussion lessons
Piano:
-Keyboard, Schreiner University Pep Band, 2004-present. I am a proud band nerd for life and I also really like these people, so I will make time (and gas money) for this one. :)
-lessons (I'm sort of a wannabe piano major)
-Accompanying where I can fit it in; most recently at Rudder Middle School in conjunction with an Education class project
Voice (mezzo-soprano):
-Not in any school choirs right now due to schedule conflicts. :( Hopefully, UTSA Chorus again in the fall. I also want to eventually make the Women's Choir at UTSA.
-I was in church choir but right now I'm between churches. :( If you know a good church in San Antonio that needs choir help and doesn't require that you be a member with all the paperwork filled out, let me know!
-I practice on my own a lot. It's something I have to make time for. It's useful to check music scores and CDs out of the school library.
Other:
-Organ lessons. (hard as heck and no, I don't have time, but still hoping it will be a useful skill one day)
